Just as aviation has advanced since the Wright Brothers’ day, so have the means of communicating. The world communicates electronically because it’s easy, fast, and convenient. That’s why EAA has made it a priority to invest in technologies that will more efficiently deliver information to members.
EAA SPORT AVIATION ARCHIVE May 2008 marked the official launch of the complete EAA Sport Aviation online archive. Members could stop saving old issues because more than 59,000 pages from 1953-2006 were made available electronically to them. Having instant access to fifty years of history and knowledge makes finding information quicker and easier. The online archive was made possible through a donation by EAA member John Craparo.
In 2008, EAA developed an online community dedicated to people passionate about aviation. Launched in spring of 2009, Oshkosh365 users can participate in group discussions and forums, access personalized news, weather, and events, share photos and videos, join special interest groups, and connect with likeminded aviation enthusiasts. This social network gives users the opportunity to stay connected to their aviation interests all year long.

EARNING MY WINGS BLOG In October 2008, Brady Lane, EAA Multimedia Journalist, began “vlogging” (video blogging) about his journey toward a Sport Pilot Certificate. Aviation enthusiasts around the world were able to “ride along” as each flight by Brady and his flight instructor, Jason Blair, Executive Director of NAFI, was recorded by cockpit cameras. Brady followed up with his thoughts of those flights on the ground, and welcomed comments from viewers. After EAA’s homepage, the blog became the number one page visited, showing a real interest in the relevant subject matter and engaging delivery method.
